I prefer to use Yahoo for my searches and I find it a more convenient web page in general. I understand that marketing revenue is a huge part of these companies, but the reason Google gets more marketing revenue is because more people log on to their website rather than Yahoo. Can someone please explain why Google is considered better than Yahoo?

I paid some SEO company to write some articles on dating when you have an STD. I work on a site that allows people with STDs to find others with the same problem for dating or friendship. One of the articles that the SEO company wrote, and submitting to many article submission sites talks about HIV. The alias I told the SEO company to use just happened to be a real person’s name.
I do not know this person, nor was I aware that it was a real name. The articles in question do not specify a specific person, city, state, or country that the author is from.
Someone with the alias recently contacted me threatening to sue for defamation of character because when he googled his name, said articles came up in the search results. Does this guy have a case? If not, does anyone know where I can find court documents online detailing a similar case?
I did tell him that I would do him a favor, not that I have to do it, but the favor of no longer using that pen name or alias. He insisted I change the name on all the current articles. They are all over the Internet, maybe in 5000 locations or so.
I would really like a court case relating to this if anyone knows of one. Or if anyone knows a good site to search through court cases so I can find a case myself. I don’t even know where this dude lives, but I don’t have the time to travel to go to court.
A company called submitplus.com claims for $699 a year, they guarantee placement in the top 10 positions( first page) of Yahoo, Google, or MSN. (it depends on your keywords). Also top 10 results in secondary search engines. Is this even possible for that price or complete BS. Your thoughts please.
I am trying to optimize the Google placement of several articles to offset a terrible posting that has been written about our non-profit. Given my very basic understanding of SEO, it would seem that posting links to the “good” pages about within the comments sections of big sites (NY Times; CNN) or even on sites like this one would raise the visibility of the good pages. Is that correct, or too simplistic?
