However, the promotion I was in just ended and I’m now paying $42.95/month for it. If you use it as a non-cable subrscriber, it jumps up to $57. I can’t afford that at the moment, so what other options are available with high speed internet? I recently researched Verizon DSL, but it’s not available yet here. So I’m kinda stuck. I don’t want to use dial up at all. I heard AOL recently came out with broadband service, maybe they’d be good? thanks for any and all help.

I think that is a bit much to pay for the internet, but I do need it. They mentioned to me that I can downgrade my service so that it will only cost $25. Of course this means a slower connection.

Currently, my connection is at 6 megabytes. Downgrading will drop it to 4 megabytes. (This is all she told me, nothing more specific.) Will the resulting change be quite noticeable? Is a 2 megabyte drop a lot? Or will I still have a decent connection. I figured if it is going to save me about $20, it will probably be significant.

I primarily use the internet for general browsing and researching. I sometimes download things, but not too often (bi-weekly, and they are usually software updates).
